Well, she had to do something for more then 1000 years until her empire would come back, but the fact that she look younger make no sense, why crystal pony would call Cadance crystal princess if she was born long after crystal empire banishment ?

I prefer to use theory that Cadance was crystal pony ( no wing, no magic ) and she turned into Alicorn after creating Crystal Heart just like her cutie mark ( just like Twilight become Alicorn by finishing friendship base spell with EoH assistance ), and after Sombra took over and banished with Equestria, Cadance was stuck in Equestria doing odd jobs since even as princess she had no power and responsibilities without kingdom and subjects, and then ignoring why she looks so young ( or it was just ilusion of some sort ).
